The band have also released a music video for their new song The Men Who Rule The World. The video was directed by Chilean film director, animator, and painter Javi.MiAmor.

In a press statement, Shirley Manson revealed how numerology had an impact on the new full-length: “This is our seventh record, the significant numerology of which affected the DNA of its content: the seven virtues, the seven sorrows, and the seven deadly sins.” She continued, “It was our way of trying to make sense of how fucking nuts the world is and the astounding chaos we find ourselves in. It’s the record we felt that we had to make at this time.”

The deluxe CD/digital version of No Gods No Masters will feature covers of songs by David Bowie, Patti Smith, and Bruce Springsteen, along with Garbage rarities and collaborations with Screaming Females, Brody Dalle, Brian Aubert, John Doe, and Exene Cervenka. The deluxe edition will be sold in record stores starting June 12th as part of Record Store Day Drops, and will be available in limited-edition pink vinyl, featuring alternate cover art.

The band will be touring the UK with Blondie this fall. It marks their first LP since 2016’s Strange Little Birds.

Bruce Springsteen Shares Powerful Tribute to George Floyd and Calls For a New Civil Rights Movement https://www.audiojuju.com/bruce-springsteen-radio-show/ Thu, 04 Jun 2020 16:09:08 +0000 https://www.audiojuju.com/?p=928 In the latest installment of his home radio show, From His Home To Yours, Bruce Springsteen has shared a powerful tribute to George Floyd.

Floyd died in Minneapolis on May 25, following an altercation with police officers. Floyd, who was African American, was killed when a white police officer appeared to kneel on his neck as he lay on the ground during an arrest.

Officer Derek Chauvin has since been fired and charged with second-degree murder and manslaughter. Three other invovled officers; Thomas Lane, Tou Thao and J Alexander Keung are now all facing charges of aiding and abetting second-degree murder, and aiding and abetting second-degree manslaughter. Since Floyd’s death, protests have erupted in the US and around the world.

Springsteen opened his show with ‘American Skin (41 Shots)’ – an eight minute song Springsteen wrote in response to the killing of Amadou Diallo in 1999, an unarmed Guinean immigrant shot dead by four New York City police officers.

“The Birmingham Movement was organized by the Southern Christian Leadership Conference to bring attention to the integration efforts of African-Americans in Birmingham, Alabama,” Springsteen said. “Their confrontations between young black students and white civic authorities led to the municipal government changing discrimination laws and was part of the broader movement toward civil rights that changed the face of the nation.

“Now almost 60 years later, we wake again to an America who burned our buildings, torched police cars and shattered shop windows. The cost that we’re paying for another half of a century of unresolved fundamental issues of race. We have not cared for our house very well. There can be no standing peace without the justice owed to every American regardless of their race, color or creed. The events of this week have once again proven that out.

“We need systemic changes in our law enforcement departments and in the political will of our national citizenry to once again move forward to the kind of changes that will bring the ideals of the Civil Rights movement once again to life and into this moment.”

Other songs Springsteen played in tribute to Floyd included Childish Gambino’s ‘This Is America’, Kanye West’s ‘Who Will Survive in America’, Bob Dylan’s ‘Murder Most Foul’ and Bob Marley’s ‘Burnin’ and Lootin’.

Americana and Country Singer-songwriter John Prine Dies at Age 73 after Suffering from Complications Created by COVID-19. https://www.audiojuju.com/jp/ Wed, 08 Apr 2020 16:06:02 +0000 https://www.audiojuju.com/?p=829 John Prine enjoyed a decades-long career as a lauded singer-songwriter, with fans alternatively describing his music as Americana, country, folk, or a mixture of all three. Prine, 73, had been battling against complications stemming from the coronavirus since late last month. His death was confirmed by his publicist.

Prine had battled cancer twice — throat cancer in 1998, and lung cancer in 2013 — and underwent hip surgery in February.

Prine was hospitalized last week after falling ill and put on a ventilator Saturday night, according to a statement from his family.

Prine’s wife and manager, Fiona, announced on March 17 that she had tested positive for the virus after they had returned from a European tour. She has since recovered.

The country-folk legend, who was considered one of the all-time American songwriters, was responsible for penning and singing songs like “Sam Stone” and “Paradise”. His career spanned several decades and earned him many accolades, including two Grammys.

Sadly, Prine is now one of the bigger musical stars to succumb to the coronavirus, though he’s certainly not the first. Earlier this month, Fountains of Wayne cofounder and “Stacy’s Mom” writer Adam Schlesinger died from coronavirus complications at age 52. And earlier today, Saturday Night Live music supervisor Hal Willner was also pronounced dead after an unsuccessful fight against COVID-19.

RIP John Prine.
